We are delighted to invite you to the 44th Annual TIPS Midwinter Symposium on Insurance and Employee Benefits- - Life, Health and Disability, and ERISA: Emerging Issues and Litigation. Please join us for a great opportunity to learn and mingle with industry colleagues at the beautiful Hyatt Regency in Coral Gables, Florida, located near Miami’s business center and some of the best golf, beaches, dining, and nightlife that South Florida has to offer.
This year’s program maintains its focus on the latest issues and trends in life insurance, health & disability insurance, employee benefits and ERISA, and insurance regulation. In addition to traditional panels focused on key updates and hot topics, specialty panels will focus on, among other things: new legislation under President Trump’s administration; affordable healthcare and the ACA; new insurance products and marketing channels; elder abuse & annuity claims; life insurance rescissions and class actions; suspicious deaths and suicide claims; trends in ERISA plan design and administration; and building an effective ERISA administrative record. The program will include a roundtable discussion led by former state insurance commissioners, focused on the latest issues and challenges in insurance regulation. Finally, the program will include a legal ethics CLE focused on “representing the client, and keeping your license…”
The program begins with a reception on Thursday evening, a great opportunity for networking and renewing acquaintances. First-time attendees will find a warm and welcoming group of gifted professionals who always make this educational meeting fun and memorable. You will see why our “regulars” keep coming back. Returning attendees and committee leaders will welcome new attendees and panelists, and coordinate “dine-around” dinners on Thursday night for those interested. The substantive CLE programming begins in earnest on Friday morning, with another networking reception and all attendee dine-around dinners on Friday evening. The CLE programming resumes Saturday morning and concludes at lunchtime, which will enable ample time to enjoy the South Florida weather for the long holiday weekend. Bring your family or friends. There is so much to do in the Coral Gables/Miami area!
Members of the Life Insurance Law, Health & Disability Law, Employee Benefits, and Insurance Regulation Committees of ABA TIPS are also welcome to attend the committees’ business meetings on Saturday afternoon, which sessions provide an opportunity for members to contribute to the future and direction of their committees.
Anyone interested in outstanding CLE programming, opportunities for networking in a collegial and beautiful setting, not to mention a January break in the Florida sun, will not want to miss this meeting. We look forward to seeing you there!
