Cybersecurity attacks are a growing concern for all lawyers and law firms. The panelists, in discussing the applicable ethics rules and ethics opinions, will identify what is required of lawyers and law firms to prevent the firms', and their clients', confidential information from being accessed by hackers or mistakenly revealed by the firms. And, if confidential information is revealed or misused or misappropriated, what lawyers and firms must do, and what they must tell clients, after the revelation occurs.

Specifically, faculty will:
  • Help you understand what steps are necessary to comply with your ethical obligations (the duty of technological competence under MRPC 1.1 and the duty to preserve client information and property under MRPC 1.6)
  • Provide tips on avoiding disciplinary exposure
  • Suggest ways to prevent possible legal malpractice claims
  • Explain how to safeguard your electronic data and confidential client information and property
  • List Price: $195.00
  • ABA Member Price: $150.00
  • Sponsor Member Price: $95.00
