I am looking forward to seeing everyone at the Third Annual TIPS Section Conference, which will be held at the JW Marriott in Chicago. The CLE Program begins Wednesday afternoon, April 26, 2017, and concludes on Friday afternoon, April 28, 2017.
I would like to thank our Program Co-Chairs, Chris Nolan and Chris Ward, for doing a great job of putting together this amazing conference. Our CLE Programs have topics which should be of interest to all TIPS members, regardless of their general committee affiliation. They also have heavy participation from outside general counsel, insurance company claims representatives, and Federal and state judges, and will be of particular interest to younger professionals who are interested in litigation. In addition, there will be ethics courses to meet CLE requirements. The Section Conference is an opportunity for all TIPS members to get together once a year to network and have fun while attending a first-class CLE Program.
We have scheduled several networking events, including receptions on both Wednesday and Friday nights at the hotel and a social networking event for all attendees sponsored by the Young Lawyers Division at The Marq beginning at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday night. The feature social event will be held Thursday night at The Mid-America Club on the 80th floor of the Aon Center which overlooks all of Lake Michigan and downtown Chicago. The Thursday night function will be about networking, great food, music and having fun. It promises to be a great time!
Finally, I want to thank our sponsors who have made the Section Conference possible. Because of the generosity of our sponsors, general counsel, insurance company representatives, and judges will be able to attend at no cost and TIPS members 40 and under will be able to attend for a cost of only $295. The cost for members over 40 is still only $495. Unlike past years, the registration fee covers all social events for registered attendees.
We are also trying something new this year by not scheduling lunches on Thursday or Friday in an effort to provide TIPS members an opportunity to meet and network outside of a hotel luncheon. I hope everyone will take advantage of the networking opportunities at the Section Conference.
Since Chicago is going to be such a great host city, I would be remiss if I did not congratulate the Chicago Cubs on their 2016 World Series championship! I look forward to seeing everyone in Chicago in April!
