We are continuing our tradition of offering FREE REGISTRATION FOR IN-HOUSE COUNSEL! Please help us spread the word! We are also proud to have three outstanding general counsel serving as our honorary co-chairs for the seminar: Nima Kelly, Executive Vice President & General Counsel, GoDaddy, Don Liu, General Counsel, Xerox Corporation, Paulette Dodson, Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary, PetSmart, Inc., and Kimberly Van Herk , Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary , Microchip Technology, Inc.
Our seminar has become known for its genuinely relaxed and collaborative environment, in which in-house and outside counsel can converse candidly on issues of common concern to attorneys charged with protecting a company’s interests in civil, criminal, and administrative proceedings in difficult economic, legal, regulatory, and technological settings.
What’s new for 2016. In addition to a variety of new, cutting edge, top-notch CLE programs for which this meeting has built its sterling reputation, our 2016 seminar will feature advanced skill-building workshops (including litigation budgets and negotiation techniques), programs with judges, and presentations on corporate pro bono. This is in addition to our popular General Counsel Forum and our lively Litigation Management Roundtable.
We are again offering our engaging In-House Counsel Only Open Forum Discussion for a dynamic conversation on topics of interest to in-house counsel without outside counsel present. And while the in-house counsel are meeting, we will have an outstanding interactive program on legal writing for outside counsel, subject, of course, to respecting the culture of the meeting protecting in-house counsel from solicitation by outside counsel (see below).
The seminar will also provide opportunities to participate in committee and subcommittee business meetings and attend luncheons, dinners, networking receptions, and other social and recreational activities, including a golf tournament on one of the resort’s beautiful, challenging, and world famous golf courses.
A word about the culture of the meeting. Many in-house counsel attend this meeting, knowing it provides a safe harbor to meet outside counsel without being solicited for business. As most business development coaches will advise, business generation follows a pattern: know, like, trust, refer. This meeting presents excellent opportunities to work on the first three elements of this pattern.
If you are not already a member of our Corporate Counsel Committee, we hope, after attending this seminar, you will decide to join and become active in the committee!
We’d like to extend our sincerest thanks to our seminar co-chairs John Gilligan, Dominique Bright-Wheeler, Patricia Astorga, Cynthia Guizzetti, and Patrick Keating for investing their boundless energy and creativity over many months to plan and coordinate every aspect of the Seminar. We’d also like to thank our cosponsoring committees Business Torts and Unfair Competition Litigation, Minority Trial Lawyer, and The Woman Advocate for their important contributions to the planning and execution of the event.
Finally, we are very grateful to our generous Section, Meeting, Peral, and Gold/Silver/Bronze Level sponsors, both longstanding and new, without which our seminar would not be possible.
Our 2016 seminar co-chairs and Section staff have worked wonders to create what is bound to be one of the most valuable, informative, rewarding, enjoyable, and memorable CLE Seminars you have ever attended. We hope to see you in Arizona in February!
